East Ayrshire Council Waste Review - Conservative group opposed 33% (£10) Garden Permit Rise...

On Thursday 29th August at the East Ayrshire Council Full Council Meeting we discussed the Waste and Recycling Review.

  • I can advise my constituents that the East Ayrshire Conservative Group and I opposed the £10 (33%) rise for the Garden Waste Permit, although we would prefer the Permit system to be removed completely and will continue to work towards that end.

  • With the current Cost of Living Crisis we were pleased to support the 50% reduction in the Bulky Waste Collection Fees for residents in receipt of qualifying benefits such as Council Tax Benefits or Universal Credit.

  • We supported the move to a four weekly waste cycle for all waste and recycling with food waste still remaining weekly. Moving forward this will provide a more efficient waste and recycling service and will give us all better value for money.
