The SNP Government are set to cut public spending by £560 million to fund public sector pay increases, but they’re refusing to touch the £20 million they ringfenced for a divisive second referendum on independence next year.

It is disappointing, but not surprising, that during a global cost-of-living crisis, the SNP would choose to slash public services before cutting funding for their proposed divisive second referendum on independence – the wrong priority at the worst possible time.

Another independence referendum is the last thing people in Scotland want right now. The SNP Government must drop their reckless plan to break up our United Kingdom and instead focus on supporting the Scottish people through this global cost-of-living crisis.
