At the Police, Fire and Rescue Committee on 14th June, the Police Chief Superintendent Faroque Hussain presented the Police Scotland Performance Summary Report for the last year.
As a member of this Committee I welcomed the report and the reduction of 4.9% in overall crime in East Ayrshire over the period. However I shared my concern and highlighted the shocking rise in Sex Crime (up 31%) and Hate Crime (up 32.6%).
I also asked the Police if with regards to Anti-Social behaviour they were ready for the potential rise in the next few weeks with our Schools and Colleges about to break for the Summer Holidays.
